You will need:

One of the following herbs:

Chamomile, horsetail, lavender, nettle, parsley, peppermint, rosemary, sage, saw palmetto or thyme

Boiling water

Liquid strainer


Place the herb you have chosen into a glass pitcher.

Pour boiling water over the herb and steep for 10 minutes.

Use a liquid strainer to strain the mixture.

Allow the liquid to cool first. Do not use boiling hot water on your head.

Pour the mixture over your head after shampooing, conditioning, or detangling.

Homemade Shea Butter Recipes For Natural Hair

Shea Butter Scalp Treatment

You will need:

1 tablespoon of raw shea butter

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 tablespoon of jojoba oil

3 drops of thyme essential oil

3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil

2 drops of cedar wood essential oil

3 drops of vitamin E oil

double boiler

Melt your shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler.

After it has melted and cooled, add in the thyme oil, eucalyptus oil, cedar wood, jojoba oil and vitamin E oil.

Massage the shea butter mixture onto your scalp. Do not apply the scalp oil onto your hair strands.

Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave the treatment on for 30-40 minutes.

Wash the mixture out thoroughly, using a high-quality shampoo.

Do-It-Yourself Deep Conditioner

This recipe from helloglow.co shows you how to create a deep conditioner for your natural hair, using coconut oil, shea butter and argan oil. The conditioner only takes 10 minutes to make and all you need are a few easy-to-find ingredients.

You will need:

2 tablespoons of coconut oil

1 tablespoon of shea butter

1 teaspoon Argan oil

a few drops of essential oil (lavender, peppermint, rosemary, geranium, clary sage)


Melt coconut oil and shea butter together in a microwave or double boiler.

After the mixture has cooled, add the argan oil.

Whip the conditioner for 3-6 minutes, until it is creamy and soft enough to be applied to hair.

Comb the mixture through clean, dry hair and let sit for half an hour.

Thoroughly rinse the deep conditioner out of your hair and shampoo.

Shampoo Recipes

Natural Shampoo Recipe
You will need:
4 tablespoons of African black soap

1 cup of hot water (distilled water is best)

2 tsp of glycerin

1 cup hot distilled water

2 teaspoons of glycerin or honey

3 teaspoons of grapeseed oil


Mix all the ingredients together in a bottle and shake well.

Let mixture to cool before using.
